Is a 1OkWh Battery Enough for an Apartment or Small Home?

A lot of our customers ask the same question when they first look into energy storage: How do I choose the right battery size? What’s the best way to use it efficiently? And can a battery and solar panels really cover my daily electricity needs?

Here’s the straightforward answer: For most apartments and small homes, a 10kWh battery alone won’t fully cover a full day’s electricity use. However, when you pair it with solar panels, it can definitely meet the daily needs of most small households.

Let’s break it down. Typically, a 10kWh battery pairs well with about 5–6 kWp of solar panels. Here in Pakistan, for example, we get around four hours of strong sunlight each day. That means your solar system could generate roughly 20–24 kWh daily. Now, that’s plenty of power to run two air conditioners, a refrigerator, lights, fans, and other everyday appliances throughout the day.

So how does the battery fit in? Well, during the day, your solar panels will produce more electricity than your home usually needs at that time. Instead of wasting that extra energy, you store it in the battery. Then, when the sun goes down or during peak usage times, you draw from that stored power. Essentially, the battery acts like a reserve tank—saving the solar energy you don’t use right away for when you really need it.

In short, for a household of one or two people living in an apartment or a small home, a 10kWh battery combined with solar is not just enough—it’s a practical and efficient choice.
