While LFP batteries are known for their longevity and safety, with proper usage habits, you can increase their cycle life from the typical 2000-3000 cycles to 5000 cycles or even more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some practical tips for extending LFP battery life:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1. Master the Art of Shallow Charging and Discharging<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Although LFP batteries can be fully charged and discharged (100%), extreme charge conditions will accelerate material aging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Optimal Range:<\/strong> Try to keep the charge between 20% and 80%.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Avoid Over-Discharging:<\/strong> Try not to let the charge drop below 10%. Deep discharge increases internal resistance and may even cause permanent damage to the battery plates.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Regular Full Charges:<\/strong> Unlike ternary lithium batteries, LFP batteries need to be fully charged at least once a week. This is for calibrating the Battery Management System (BMS). Because the discharge curve of an LFP is very flat, the BMS can only accurately estimate the charge level by correcting the voltage during a full charge.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2. Control the charge\/discharge rate (avoid high-temperature fast charging)<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The higher the current, the higher the heat, and the more intense the chemical side reactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Prioritize slow charging:<\/strong> If possible, use AC slow charging first. The Joule heat generated by high-rate fast charging (DC Fast Charging) will damage the electrolyte film (SEI film).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cool down the battery:<\/strong> Do not charge immediately after driving (when the battery is still hot) or after being exposed to direct sunlight. Charging below freezing will cause lithium metal precipitation (lithium dendrites), which may puncture the separator and cause a short circuit. Modern devices often have a low-temperature heating function; please ensure this function is functioning correctly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>4. Handling During Long-Term Inactivity<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>If you plan to not use the battery for an extended period (e.g., for winter use of an electric bicycle):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Charge Level:<\/strong> Maintain at approximately 40% &#8211; 60%.
