RS485 \u2013 The Long-Distance Reporter<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>RS485 also handles battery-to-inverter communication, but it behaves more like a work report email. It does not require an instant reply, yet it excels at long-distance transmission (up to 1,200 meters) and supports multiple devices on the same bus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In storage systems, RS485 handles inverter communication. More importantly, it commonly carries data between the battery and monitoring screens or the home Energy Management System (EMS). It reliably delivers large volumes of data \u2013 voltage, temperature, SOC, and more \u2013 to the central control computer, so users and administrators can check the system status at any time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. RS232 \u2013 The Service Engineer&#8217;s Diagnostic Tool<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When a storage battery develops a complex fault, or when the underlying software needs an upgrade, an engineer visits the site, opens the battery enclosure, and connects a laptop to the battery using a serial cable. Through the RS232 port, they can directly read the lowest-level operation logs, modify factory parameters, and flash firmware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is a simple way to understand it: CAN and RS485 serve as the battery&#8217;s &#8220;mouth,&#8221; speaking to the outside world.
